Moxiethon · Honduras.

Our first hackathon brought more than fifty computer science students from across Honduras together for three days on one theme: AI in healthcare.

The challenge

More than fifty computer science students from leading Honduran universities spent three days on a single theme: AI in healthcare. Teams were asked to find a real problem in patient care and build something against it on MoxieLink, our own clinical platform.

Students formed interdisciplinary teams, sat through workshops, and worked alongside mentors from both healthcare and technology. The brief was deliberately open. What mattered was whether the idea held up against how care actually gets delivered.

“This hackathon was about empowering young technologists in Honduras to design solutions that bridge innovation with compassion.”
Dr. Gustavo Ferrer, Founder and CEO, Moxie Health Group

What won

The winning team, Roberto Carlos Garay Logan and Luis Fernando Bautista Castellanos, built an automated system that analyzes calls between on-call agents and facility nurses and generates real time summaries, sent straight to the right nurse practitioner’s device. It answers a problem every clinical team recognizes: the detail that matters is spoken once, then lost.

The system is being integrated into MoxieLink to improve communication and patient care coordination, which is the part we did not want to leave as a demo.

Three teams took prizes on the closing day: 40,000 lempiras for first place, 20,000 for second, and 15,000 for third.

“By engaging local talent, we’re enhancing Moxie-Link’s capabilities while giving young engineers the chance to shape the future of healthcare technology.”
Dr. Alfonso Ortega, Chief Technology Officer, Moxie Health Group

What comes next

Moxiethon returns in 2026 with more participants and new challenges across digital health, data analytics, and AI driven care.
