Moxiethon · Panama.

Engineers who normally build MoxieLink from different countries and time zones met in person in Panama City to work side by side on AI tools for clinical decision support.

The gathering

Panama City recently hosted Moxiethon, bringing together engineers and developers from several countries around a shared goal: closing the distance between software engineering and clinical practice.

Most of the people on these teams collaborate remotely, from different parts of the world, on the day-to-day work of building MoxieLink. This edition gave them something remote work rarely allows: a few days in the same room to trade ideas, work through problems together, and push new features forward.

What they built

In the format of a classic hackathon but with a specific focus, teams worked on tools that help physicians read and interpret clinical information faster, pulling different data sources into a single view that supports a medical decision without replacing the clinician’s judgment.

“Bringing our engineering teams together in person accelerates what we can build. Direct collaboration across disciplines is what turns technology into something with real impact on medical practice.”
Dr. Gustavo Ferrer, Founder and CEO, Moxie Health Group

Official interest

Dr. Julio Sandoval, advisor to Panama’s Minister of Health, visited the event to see the engineering teams’ work firsthand and learn more about the project’s approach to the responsible use of AI in medicine, a sign of the institutional interest this kind of work is drawing in the region.

Why Panama

Choosing Panama City for this edition was not incidental. The country has become a regional meeting point for health and innovation, and its international connectivity made it an easy place to bring people in from across the region.
